Roadmap

From NLTiVo

This page describes the things we are planning to do, as well as things we are wishing for. Roadmaps usually contain a timeline, but since this whole TiVo-thing is a hobby, and we like our social life, we didn't think it would be wise to attach one. Whenever there is some spare time though, improvements are being made. So check this page once in a while to see what has been done. Of course you can always volunteer to accelerate some things... :-)

What we'are planning to do

As our primary goal is to have a free and friendly emulator service in the Netherlands, here's the preliminary planning on how to get there:

Phase 1

1. Working slice generator, without integrity checker, without enricher and without web-ui (only feeder and slicer) (done)
2. Working emulator service with guide-data (done)
3. Auto creation of palmod- and ukchan30-configfiles from database (done)
4. Wiki online (done)
5. Wiki filling (design of dutchtivoguide, guide to alter oztivo-image for use in NL, glossary, etc.) (done)

Phase 2

1. Enhancing the feeder and slicer (done)
2. Working integrity-checker (done)
3. Bug-fixing and further enhancement of the current scripts (ongoing).
4. Working web-ui, to view and enhance the guide-data by hand.
5. Implement another type of EPG-scraper to have a backup guidedata-feed and maybe data further into the future (now around one week).

Phase 3

1. Working enricher (done)

What we are wishing for

During initial discussions a lot of 'want to have' items came along, this is the assembled list of them. The purpose is to have them available at all times and make them into some sort of prioritized list.

1. Support for showcases and magazines
2. Support for logo-slices
3. Support for genre-slices
4. Support for SW-slices (auto software-updates on TiVo)
5. Support for IR-slices (creation and maintenance from web-ui and auto-creation of IR-slices from database) (partially done)
6. Message-slice creation from web-ui (sending messages to TiVo's of other users, note that this is not the same as the tivoweb functionality)
7. nlTiVo disk image (adjusted pictures, right timezoning, palmod-enhancing) (Done)
