Trickey is a program for the TiVo that watches your remote control keypresses and does cool stuff when you press certain key combinations. This page gives an overview of the keys on your remote that trigger actions on your TiVo:

  • Clear, 1, Clear : Show TiVo's IP address
  • Clear, 2, Clear : Show the TiVo's uptime (time since last reboot)
  • Clear, 3, Clear : Show the temperature inside your TiVo
  • Clear, 4, Clear : Show the version of the nlTiVo image you are running
  • Clear, LiveTV, Clear : Force a Daily Call
  • Clear, 8, 1, Clear: Force a slice index
  • Clear, 8, 2, Clear: Set NTSC mode
  • Clear, 8, 3, Clear: Set PAL mode
  • Clear, 9, 1, Clear : Set maintenance mode (redoing GS, changing IR etc)
  • Clear, 9, 2, Clear : Update the nlTiVo-software
  • Clear, 9, 3, Clear : Install the latest station logos (future use)
  • VCRBYPASS : Wake up a TiVo in sleep mode (only on UK or Sony remotes?)


The keys above are available in release 1.6 of the nlTiVo-image.
